During my tenure at smartData Enterprises Inc., I had the opportunity to design an advanced digital ecosystem for TriSpire Behavioral Healthcare—a next-generation Electronic Health Record (EHR) tailored specifically for behavioral health practices. This project allowed me to lead the design of four key digital touchpoints—Super Admin Agency Dashboard, Provider Dashboard, Patient Dashboard, and the website creating unified, intuitive experiences that support both clinical workflows and patient engagement.

What makes this application unique from others?
TriSpire is not “another healthcare product.”
It stands out because it is a provider-built, provider-driven EHR, created specifically for the complex needs of behavioral health practitioners, a domain where traditional EHRs often fail.
Unlike generic systems that force mental health teams to adapt to rigid workflows, TriSpire uniquely delivers a fully integrated, deeply thoughtful, and highly intuitive ecosystem covering the entire lifecycle:
Booking → Clinical workflows → Documentation → Billing → Patient engagement.
Problem Statement
Behavioral health practices often struggle with fragmented tools, complex administrative workflows, and overwhelming documentation requirements, which can make technology feel more like a burden than a support system. Providers face challenges in managing appointments, claims, documentation, and patient engagement across multiple platforms, while patients frequently lack easy access to scheduling, billing, and communication tools. TriSpire set out to address these issues by creating a unified, next-generation EHR designed specifically for behavioral health, where every feature—from booking and billing to documentation and patient portals—works seamlessly together. The goal was to design dashboards and a website that not only deliver powerful functionality but also simplify interactions, reduce busywork, and put the focus back on care.

My role and responsibilities
User & stakeholder research: Gathered insights from providers, administrators, and patients on pain points and feature needs.
Information architecture & UX design: Mapped workflows and designed clear navigation for each dashboard.
Visual design & design system: Created a cohesive UI pattern library for consistency across dashboards and the website.
Prototype development: Built interactive prototypes for critical tasks like scheduling, documentation, billing, and portal access.
Collaboration & handoff: Worked closely with developers and product managers to ensure implementable, user-centered designs.
About the Design
1. Super Admin Agency Dashboard:
Designed for clinic administrators to oversee the entire practice—manage users, monitor billing, compliance tasks, and performance metrics. Features include:
High-level analytics and insights (claims, usage, compliance)
Role-based user management
System-wide notifications and support access
2. Provider Dashboard:
Tailored for clinicians managing daily patient care:
Day/Week calendar with scheduling, rescheduling, group sessions
Quick access to patient charts, documentation templates, e-prescribing, telehealth
AI tools for documentation (macros, dictation) to speed note-taking
3. Patient Dashboard:
Empowers clients with self-service, reducing admin load:
Self-scheduling, refill requests, secure messaging, payment and superbill management
Document access/submission and billing overview—all via the portal

4. Website Design:
Serves triSpire’s external brand and new-user acquisition:
Clear feature overview (appointment management, patient engagement, documentation, support)
“Why Choose TriSpire” section, highlighting provider-led development, affordability, and integrated features
Cohesive visual style, illustrative icons for each feature, and a compelling call-to-action for onboarding
This project allowed me to apply my design skills in a meaningful, real-world context—crafting experiences that support behavioral health providers and patients alike. The result: a cohesive, user-centered digital platform that brings TriSpire’s powerful EHR capabilities to life through elegant, accessible, and intuitive UI across dashboards and web.
